RetroFitting The Future

For the past 8 months my cousin, Stu Mark and I have been collaborating on an album of music. We call ourselves AutoStar, and our debut album is 'RetroFitting The Future'.

It is synthesizer-based with occasional electric guitar. Specifically, it's in either one of two genres, called Acid-House, which is a form of ambient techno dance music, or Ambient-House, which is the same, except with a slower beat. Essentially, our album is seven tracks of slow tempo synthesizer music with sampled vocals acting as a type of narration. It's a modern form of a classical form from last century, Musique concrète.

For those that don't know, Stu lives in LA, and I in DC. The entire album was recorded, mixed, and mastered without us being in the same room at the same time. The internet made it all possible.

For those of you who listen to electronica, we're using forms that are similar to The Orb and The Future Sound Of London and Spicelab and others.

This is the official announcement that the album is done and available in CD form - it's also available as individual mp3 downloads from our myspace store (eventually it will be available on other digital sites, including the iTunes store) . If you're up for giving it a quick preview, go to our band website, (www.planetautostar.com) - if you like what you hear, great. If you want to hear more (but don't want to part with the green stuff just yet), you can check out our myspace page (www.myspace.com/planetautostar) where there are considerably longer samples.
